Paul and the kids adore camping and were dying to camp this last weekend. Lucky for us, Scott, Jenny and Paige (Paul's brother's family) was able to join us. The last time we camped on Memorial Day, the girls were 9 months and it snowed and it was HORRIBLE. Luckily we didn't see snow but it was pretty cold. The first night, Jenny, our babies (Paige is 5 months and Jaxon 1 year), and I went home for the night since it was supposed to get in the 30's and rain (I thought maybe snow if it got that cold, yuck). The kids and boys did great that night and there was no rain thankfully. The second night, we thought we could tough it out and stayed but Jaxon was not a fan of the port-a-crib or the cold. At 2 in the morning, he woke up screaming, and spent two hours in Paul's sleeping bag squirming and fussing with occasional sleep. So, Paul and I ended up zipping our sleeping bags together and bringing him in. He slept a lot better but we decided we would not spend another night there.
We did have a ton of fun. I wish I had taken more pictures at the campsite, especially where my kids look like hobos, haha. They loved playing in the trees, rocks and dirt. Scott and Jenny found an awesome campsite up in the Alpine Loop. They had just opened it for the first time and it was great.
During the day, we tried our luck at hiking with children (this was a first for us). We did a tiny hike on Saturday, only 0.2 miles.
Then jumped up to the Timpanogos Cave hike which was a little insane with little kids, 1.5 miles and its pretty steep. The hike was crazy but the caves were pretty awesome.
This is how the babies spent their time... you got to admit they got the best deal of all. I love how they can sleep anywhere, anytime.
We had a really good time but I think there will not be a Memorial Day camping trip ever again. Its way too cold still in Utah. Maybe if we go somewhere south...
Fun, wish we were there!
