Kylie and Bailey Start School

Kylie and Bailey started school today. They are in the 3rd grade and in the same class as last year. They have a fantastic teacher they love! They are smart girls and couldn't wait to start school. They each chose their own clothes, hair etc. They are getting so grown up :)

Happy 9th Birthday!

Kylie and Bailey turned 9 while we were in Aruba. I've never msised a birthday and felt HORRIBLE missing such a big day for the girls. We were flying home on their birthday but we celebrated all day the next day when I picked them up. Luckily, Paul's sister Kim (who was watching our kids for us) is the best at birthdays and made it special for them. They got breakfast in bed, went to the park, and had all kinds of fun!
Our Birthday Celebration: I made them dirt cake, they got the rollerblades they've been dying for, and spent the day having fun! Love these two!

Last Day of 2nd Grade

Bailey and Kylie are no longer 2nd graders. They finished their last day today and were so excited! Our family loves summer and we couldn't wait for it to officially start. Plus all their cousins were in town so we were able to miss the last few days. Both girls are well above grade level in reading and math. They are so smart and we are so proud of them!

Robots vs Humans: 2nd Grade Opera

Our girls participated in their 2nd grade class opera tonight. This year they have had two awesome teachers (each did half time) and they put together a short opera. The kids auditioned, made the props and sets. They even wrote the whole thing. it was called Robots vs. Families and was about how technology isn't as important as people (good message right). They were each "moms". We made a stereo boom box (btw Bailey had no idea what it was lol) and an ipad out of cardboard and vinyl. They did awesome and had so much fun!
Kylie even designed the programs.

The short 8 minute program.

Kylie and Bailey's Spring Dance Concert

Kylie and Bailey's Dance concert this spring. They have worked so hard this year and have really improved. They performed to Michael Buble's Haven't Met You Yet and a song from Rio. {Ignore their makeup, I'm HORRIBLE at stage makeup. They will be going au natural next year or I may beg my friend to help me}
They did fantastic and we were so proud! Way to go girls!

Up on the housetop...

Kylie and Bailey have done dance for the last two years and this year they were switched into a class with older girls who have been dancing longer.  They were so excited to be with their friends. They practiced every day and did great! We are so glad they found something they love to do.

2nd Grade Singing

Kylie and Bailey were chosen by their teachers to go to Zion's bank and sing some songs and decorate their Christmas trees. Zion's donates money to their school and its become a tradition to do. It was a lot of fun to watch and they were so excited.

With their friend Brooklyn...
They did some sign language in their songs.

It's great to be 8

Kylie and Bailey turned 8 and in our church, when a child turns 8 they get to choose whether to be baptized. Kylie and Bailey each made the choice themselves and decided to be baptized. It was a great day and we are so proud of them and hope they always remember how great they felt.

Dad baptized both girls. Kylie was baptized first and Bailey was confirmed first.
Understanding the covenants they are going to make.
It was a great day!

Last Day of School

Its been a great year. Kylie and Bailey have really loved their teachers and classes. It's been wonderful having them in separate classes and they've really done well. Kylie loved all the creativity especially all the journals they did in class. Bailey loved all the attention her teacher gave. She was always coming home talking about what her teacher did for her. Both girls are at the top of their classes and are reading at a 3rd grade level. We are so glad they had such great teachers and are so proud of them.

1st Grade Fieldtrip to Zoo

This year, Kylie and Bailey's field trip was to Hogle Zoo. We weren't sure how it would work with them being in separate classes and me being a chaperon but the girls were reasonable and decided I should go with Bailey's class and Kylie would join Bailey's. With Bailey, Kylie and a little girl from Bailey's class, we had a great day at the zoo, then to the park for a picnic. These three were seriously so good and we had so much fun!
It was Zoorasic Park. These dinos looked quite real.
 In front of the ostriches
 The cute baby elephant.
The tigers
I love these two special girls and am so glad I have a job where I can do these things with them.

Reading

Kylie and Bailey love to read. They can sit for an hour just reading, especially chapter books. This year in school they've started reading big fun books. Their favorites are the Treehouse books and Junie B Jones. At the last Parent Teacher Conferences they were both reading at above 3rd grade. We are so proud of them!

Dance Christmas Performance

Aren't these the two prettiest dancers? Kylie and Bailey have decided they wanted to do dance again this year (they did not want to at all last year). They were with a lot of the same girls as before and love it.
 Posing...

Their Class performing the Hippopotamus song. They were right in the middle.
Watch it here. This is a new camera and we couldn't figure out how to zoom out.

Congrats girls, you did a great job!

1st Grade Projects

Bailey had a project due for school and did a great job. She had to make a poster-board all about herself. I think it turned out great! Some things she likes: Christmas, math, add-a-frog, Guffy the Goofy Gobbler is her favorite song, dress up, going to her great grandparents house (they have a spa), jump rope, Cracker Barrel (we eat out way too much!), her sister, Saturdays and she's a daddy's girl.
At Paretnt Teacher Conferences, Kylie showed me her picture displayed at school. She did a great job and is doing so well at school.
We are so proud of both our girls and their accomplishments at school.
