Parents and pastries
It was time for parents and pastries again and luckily it fell on a day I didn't have to be to work til 830 so I got to take the kids. We were the first ones there, read a book together, then ate the best donuts! It's so much fun to get these moments with them :)

Kade is a reader
Kade is officially reading. He can sound out and blend his words. He is just starting a chapter book in his kindergarten class. It's amazing how it seems to just happen over night.

Happy 11th anniversary
This year our anniversary fell on a Saturday. Paul planned the night out for us. He arranged for Scott and Jenny (his brother & wife) to take the kids overnight. We went to the Grand America for the night, had a couples massage, ate dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, shopped a little and just relaxed. It was perfect.

Kade Basketball
Kade has spent the last three months playing jr jazz basketball. He loved practice and would be very aggressive but at games he would get timid with all the people around. It was such a change from the happy go lucky boy we know. He did great and had so much fun. We loved how the program really taught the kids how to play correctly. Each week try learned a new skill and the red called them on only the things they learned. The last game, kade got a certificate and trophy (which was like winning the lottery to this kid). We will definitely be participating again next year!

Bloody noses
Today jaxon kept getting bloody noses and we had no idea why. He had 3-4 at preschool, getting one right when I picked him up. It wouldn't stop and I had planned on taking the kids to McDonalds to celebrate good reports at parent teacher conferences. So I made this little makeshift plug for it and made him play at McDonalds like this.
Later he fell asleep with it in. I'm such a mean mom :)

President's day Picnic
We had a long weekend and spend Monday relaxing and being lazy. The sun was out (but its still freezing out) so the kids played outside for most of the day. For lunch, they wanted a picnic but Mom did not want to be outside so we compromised. McDonald's with an indoor picnic was made for a perfect day.

Paul's great idea
Paul's brother shared some (over a thousand) pictures of Paul's family growing up. Among those pictures was this beauty. This is Paul, Kent and Keith around 6-9 years old.
Paul got a fun idea to "photoshop" adult versions of him and his two younger brothers making fun of their younger selves. We made a day out of it when Kent came into town. We went down to Orem, took pictures and met up with everyone at the Brick Oven. It was tons of fun. The final picture turned out pretty good too!

This was the picture they took.
And the finished product. It looks pretty good right?

Valentines Day
For valentine's day, Mom had to work (parent teacher conferences) so we celebrated the next night. But on the night before Valentines, Mom and Dad wrote 20 things they loved about each kid, and heart attacked their rooms. They woke up to hearts everywhere.
After we had left for work, they returned the favor :) Such great kids.
On Friday Night, we did our mystery dinner again since the kids have been talking about it for weeks (kade even remembered the names of items from a year ago see post here.) For the second annual Chalmers Valentines Mystery Dinner, we had a Disney theme. Mom came up with a menu, then added fun disney names. It took me a while to come up with but it was so fun. I gave each kid a menu like below and the kids order each course making the best guesses that we could as to what the items we were ordering, really were. They loved trying to figure it out. Kylie and Bailey thought they had it all figured out. It was fun listening to them reason why each thing was what it was. Kade was thrilled he got dessert for his 1st course again but no utinsils. He just licked the ice cream and later (course 3 or 4) ate all the toppings for his sundae separate. He also ate his ranch and gravy separate. Jaxon didn't know what was going on and didn't eat anything until he was served it all. I think next year it might make more sense for him. He was just confused the whole time.

Grocery Shopping
Kade, Jaxon and I typically go grocery shopping when the girls are at dance. This time though Kade wanted to help me make a list. While we were driving
It's so cool when kids start to be able to read and write. It always amazes me. It almost seems like its over night.
