Kade's Great to be 8
This year, Kade is turning 8. Its a big year in our church as he will decide if he wants to be baptized. Tonight was a preview called "Great to be 8" at church. They went over all the fun things that come with being eight. He can be baptized and gets to start cub scouts. I can't believe how grown up he's getting. The right is a questionairre he filled out. Apparently he wants to go on a mission to Chicago someday. Paul went there for work a while ago and he thought thats where dad had served a mission. He wants to be like his dad.

Zoo
We had a four day weekend and thought it might be fun to use our zoo passes. We had never been in the winter, it never seemed like a great idea (way too cold) but we found out zoos in the winter are kind of awesome. It was sunny so not too cold (but we were still bundled most of the time) and all the animals that are usually sleeping during summer were active. Who'd have thought? We loved seeing the cats. They were all moving around and eating. Usually they are sleeping and you can hardly even see them. And they are at the top of the park so the long uphill walk is not even worth it. The giraffes were in their building so we got to get really close to them. The sea lions were probably the most fun. We saw them playing and doing tricks. We will definitely be going again soon.

Rocket Derby
Our ward's scouts had their rocket derby tonight. This year, they are allowing the activity day girls to participate and all the kids turning 8 this year. Kylie, Bailey and Kade all made rockets from a kit with dad and had so much fun racing them. We had never done one before and are excited for the next derby in a couple months.

Kade Lost a Top Tooth
The boys and their rough play ended up with Kade losing a tooth. It had been semi-loose for a while but one bump and it was a goner :) Kade was thrilled.
Parents and Pastries
The elementary school does a parents and pastries before school a few times a year. They get to read a book together, then eat donuts. Paul was able to attend this time and the kids loved it.
